Rugby Premier League to Launch in Mumbai June 1, 2025

The Rugby Premier League (RPL), the world's first franchise-based Rugby 7s tournament, is set to debut in Mumbai from June 1 to June 15, 2025. Organized by Rugby India in collaboration with GMR Sports, the league will feature six city-based franchises and a roster of 30 marquee international players from top rugby nations, ensuring a high level of competition. Matches will take place at the Mumbai Football Arena, with a total of 34 games scheduled during the event. The league has secured a dedicated window on the global Rugby 7s calendar, enhancing participation from elite players. Broadcasts will be available on Star Sports and Jio HotStar, aiming to attract rugby fans across India. This initiative marks a significant step for rugby in India, combining global talent with local ambition to develop the sport domestically.
