Duncan Aldred Named GM North America Senior VP

General Motors (GM) has appointed Duncan Aldred as Senior Vice President and President of North America, effective immediately, amid challenges from newly imposed U.S. tariffs on foreign auto parts that have led to a lowered 2025 profit forecast. Aldred, a 33-year GM veteran, is recognized for a decade of growth at Buick and GMC and for launching successful new vehicle sub-brands. He will report to Rory Harvey, GM's Executive Vice President and President of Global Markets. Aldred’s responsibilities include sustaining sales momentum, leveraging GM’s internal combustion and electric vehicle portfolio, and ensuring agility in a shifting market. GM emphasized a renewed focus on customer-centric innovation and strategic adaptation to economic pressures. Aldred expressed optimism about GM’s position and aims to enhance the customer experience in North America.
