The 15th Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) will kick off with 'My Melbourne,' an anthology film featuring shorts by directors Kabir Khan, Imtiaz Ali, Onir, and Rima Das, running from August 15 to 25, 2024. Each of the four short films—Emma, Jules, Nandini, and Setara—explores themes of race, gender, sexuality, and disability, inspired by true incidents. Rima Das emphasized the authentic portrayal of disability in her film, which includes actors from the deaf community, and hopes it fosters dialogue about inclusivity. Kabir Khan highlighted the inspiring story of Setara, an Afghan woman's journey to finding belonging in Melbourne through cricket. The anthology is backed by Vic Screen and Screen Australia, showcasing a significant Indo-Australian collaboration. Festival Director Mitu Bhowmick Lange expressed excitement about the film's role in celebrating diverse voices and storytelling.
