Nancy Mace Faces Defamation Lawsuit Over Abuse Allegations

Congresswoman Nancy Mace is facing a defamation lawsuit filed by Brian Musgrave, one of the men she accused of sexual abuse in a February 10 House floor speech. Mace described heinous crimes against women, alleging her ex-fiancé and his associates were involved in rape and non-consensual filming. Musgrave's lawsuit claims that her accusations have severely harmed his reputation, arguing that Mace's statements made on social media following her speech fall outside the constitutional protections for lawmakers. Mace, however, defends her speech as protected under the 'speech or debate clause' of the Constitution. The South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division has confirmed an ongoing investigation into the allegations raised by Mace. Musgrave's legal team asserts that Mace has continued to spread false information since her initial claims, including displaying a poster labeling the accused men as 'predators' outside her office.
