Gas Prices Expected to Drop Across Alberta, Toronto, Canada

Gas prices across Alberta and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) are expected to drop significantly over the week of June 25, providing relief to drivers ahead of the Canada Day long weekend. In Alberta, Gas Wizard forecasts consecutive price decreases on June 25 and 26, with regular gas prices falling by approximately four to five cents per litre in Calgary and Edmonton, and similar reductions for premium fuel and diesel. The GTA is seeing a comparable trend, with prices dropping five cents per litre on June 26 following a four-cent decrease the previous day, bringing regular fuel prices down to an average of 132.9 cents per litre. Dan McTeague, President of Canadians for Affordable Energy, attributes this downward pressure partly to geopolitical developments, including a ceasefire announcement between Israel and Iran by U.S. President Donald Trump, which has helped return prices to levels last seen two weeks prior. Despite the expected decreases, some analysts caution that a small price increase could occur closer to the weekend. Drivers are encouraged to fuel up sooner rather than later to take advantage of these lower prices before any potential weekend price hikes.
