Maruti Suzuki Launches Alto EV in India

Maruti Suzuki is set to enter the electric vehicle market in India with the launch of the e Vitara by March, followed by the development of an entry-level hatchback, the Y2V, expected to begin production by 2028. The Y2V aims to cater to the affordable segment, featuring a smaller 35kWh battery, and is part of Maruti's strategy to launch six EVs by 2031, with an anticipated 15% of total sales coming from electric models by the end of the decade. Additionally, Maruti is introducing the Alto EV, which combines the traditional appeal of the Alto with electric features, ensuring affordability and zero emissions. The Alto EV is designed for urban commuters, offering a range of 150-180 km and a power output of 40-50 HP, making it suitable for both city and occasional highway use.
