Ovechkin Leaves Game With Leg Injury
Alex Ovechkin, the captain of the Washington Capitals, left the game against the Utah Hockey Club with a left leg injury after scoring two goals in a 6-2 victory. The incident occurred during the third period when he collided with Utah forward Jack McBain, causing Ovechkin to crumple to the ice. He was assisted off by teammate Jakob Chychrun and did not return to the game. Ovechkin's two goals brought his career total to 868, leaving him just 26 behind Wayne Gretzky's NHL record, and he currently leads the league with 15 goals this season. Capitals coach Spencer Carbery stated that Ovechkin is being evaluated and more information regarding his condition will be available soon. The Capitals, who have won four consecutive games, are set to play against the Colorado Avalanche next.
