CJ ENM Launches First Light StoryHouse to Elevate Asian Stories Globally

South Korean entertainment giant CJ ENM has launched First Light StoryHouse, a new film and TV development label dedicated to amplifying Asian and Asian American voices globally. The label is a collaboration between CJ Group vice-chairwoman Miky Lee, Janet Yang, the outgoing president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and Dominic Ng, CEO of East West Bank. First Light StoryHouse will focus on supporting and developing scripted TV and film projects led by Asian creators, investing early in the development phase, and partnering with studios, production companies, and streaming platforms to bring these stories to a global audience. The initiative aims to elevate underrepresented Asian perspectives in Hollywood and the international entertainment industry, celebrating the richness of Asian experiences worldwide. CJ ENM’s track record includes backing acclaimed films like Bong Joon-ho’s "Parasite" and Celine Song’s "Past Lives," which have garnered major awards and nominations, providing a strong foundation for the new label. The founders emphasize storytelling's power to bridge cultures and are committed to empowering authentic Asian narratives on the global stage.
