OpenAI Unveils ChatGPT Apps SDK, Multiple Partners

At its DevDay, OpenAI unveiled an Apps SDK that lets ChatGPT run third‑party apps inside the chat, displaying interactive interfaces like maps, playlists and presentations. Initial partners include Spotify, Canva, Coursera, Figma, Zillow and Booking.com, with additional integrations announced for DoorDash, OpenTable, Target and Uber and app submission/monetization guidelines coming soon. The feature is rolling out now for many logged‑in users outside the EU. Spotify’s ChatGPT integration went live Oct. 6, 2025 in English across 145 countries and is opt‑in for Free and Premium users, letting ChatGPT make personalized playlists and podcast recommendations. Spotify says it will not share music, podcasts or other audio/video content with OpenAI for AI training. OpenAI said ChatGPT has roughly 800 million weekly active users and is positioning apps built on the service as a new platform layer.
