James Fitch, a 54-year-old campus relations coordinator at Cesar Chavez Ravenswood Middle School in East Palo Alto, has pleaded not guilty to charges of committing lewd acts with a seventh-grade student. Fitch was arrested after police received allegations on September 6 and discovered incriminating text messages. He faces three felony counts of lewd acts with a minor and one felony count of enticing a minor for lewd acts. Fitch's arrest was carried out with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals. The Ravenswood City School District has expressed deep concern and is cooperating fully with law enforcement, offering support services to the affected student and family. Fitch remains in custody on $500,000 bail with a preliminary hearing set for September 30.
