Monaco 2-2 Manchester City
Manchester City were held to a 2-2 draw at AS Monaco in the Champions League after Erling Haaland scored twice but Monaco earned a late penalty, converted by Eric Dier following a VAR review for a high boot by Nico Gonzalez. Jordan Teze had earlier levelled with a long-range strike, while Haaland’s brace underlined his Champions League potency (reported 52 goals in 50 appearances). The match was marred by touchline chaos when Monaco goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma ran to the dugout for instructions ahead of the penalty, which resulted in two of City’s backroom staff receiving red cards. Pep Guardiola made rotation calls with Rodri back in the side and John Stones used at right-back. Monaco named several ex-Premier League players including Eric Dier, Folarin Balogun and on-loan Ansu Fati. The draw leaves City with one point and gives Monaco their first point in the group.
