Louisville Man Arrested for Valley Station Liquor Store Shooting Over Cigarette Dispute

A 29-year-old Louisville man, Matthew Tarrance, was arrested and charged with assault after shooting another man twice outside Valley Liquors in the Valley Station neighborhood following a verbal altercation. The dispute began when the victim threw a cigarette butt onto Tarrance's car, prompting Tarrance to exit his vehicle and continue the argument before shooting the victim in the stomach. The victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Tarrance reportedly called police after the incident, claiming self-defense. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. and Tarrance is awaiting arraignment, with the case still under investigation to determine if the shooting was justified.
