Kevin Costner Faces Sexual Harassment Lawsuit Over Unscripted Scene
Stunt performer Devyn LaBella has filed an amended sexual harassment lawsuit against actor Kevin Costner and the producers of "Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2," alleging she was subjected to an unscripted and unchoreographed sexual assault scene directed by Costner. LaBella claims she was forced to perform the scene without prior consent or preparation, with actor Roger Ivens pinning her down and lifting her skirt, exposing her undergarments while she was menstruating, and that no intimacy coordinator was present during the incident. She provided text message exchanges with the film’s intimacy coordinator expressing her distress and questioning the production's handling of the sensitive scene. Costner's lawyer, Marty Singer, has denied the allegations, asserting that numerous witnesses contradicted LaBella's claims and that text messages from LaBella herself to a supervisor reflected a positive experience on set. The legal representatives emphasize that the scene was a scripted rehearsal involving no intimacy or sexual conduct and dispute the characterization of the events. LaBella also alleges retaliation, including not being rehired for the next film in the series, further intensifying the legal conflict.
