Troy Masters, the founding publisher of the Los Angeles Blade and a significant figure in LGBTQ media, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 63. The cause of death has not been disclosed, and his family expressed their shock and devastation, highlighting his legacy as a tireless advocate for social justice and equality. Masters founded Gay City News in New York City in 2002 before launching the Los Angeles Blade in 2017, which serves as a sister publication to the Washington Blade. The Blade's management described him as a pioneer in LGBTQ journalism and expressed deep sorrow over his passing. The publication will continue under the leadership of local editor Gisselle Palomera, ensuring his mission endures. Masters is survived by his mother, sister, and many friends and colleagues.
