James Blanchard Signs 3-Year Texas Tech Contract

Texas Tech general manager James Blanchard has signed a three-year contract to remain with the Red Raiders through 2027, following an offer from Notre Dame to assume the same role there. Notre Dame, seeking to replace Chad Bowden, pursued Blanchard with a lucrative offer, but Blanchard chose to stay with Texas Tech, where he has been credited with securing top recruiting classes and transfers. Blanchard, recognized for his talent evaluation skills, was the first hire by head coach Joey McGuire in 2021, and they have worked together previously at Baylor. Under Blanchard’s leadership, Texas Tech signed their first five-star prospect and built a strong recruiting program. Notre Dame will now look for alternative candidates to fill their general manager position.
