Simran Sharma Advances to 200m T12 Finals
Indian athlete Simran Sharma, the reigning world champion, has advanced to the finals of the women's 200m T12 event at the Paris 2024 Paralympics with a time of 25.03 seconds. Despite narrowly missing a podium finish in the women's 100m T12 final, where she finished fourth with a time of 12.31 seconds, Simran remains a strong contender in the 200m race. Born prematurely and visually impaired, Simran has overcome numerous challenges, including her father's chronic illness and eventual passing, to achieve remarkable success in para-athletics. Accompanied by her guide Abhay Singh, she has demonstrated consistent performance, securing her spot in the finals with outstanding timings in her heats and semifinals. Simran's journey is an inspirational testament to her resilience and determination. Other Indian athletes, including Navdeep in javelin throw and Arshad Shaik in para cycling, will also be competing on the penultimate day of the Paralympics.
