Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat has criticized the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and its president PT Usha, alleging a lack of genuine support and accusing them of politicizing her disqualification from the Paris Olympics 2024. Phogat, who missed her gold medal bout due to being 100 grams overweight, felt that PT Usha's hospital visit and subsequent social media post were more about publicity than offering real help. She expressed disillusionment with the political dynamics within the sports administration, which she claimed contributed to her heartbreak. Phogat, along with fellow wrestler Bajrang Punia, has since joined the Indian National Congress party. The IOA stated they offered legal support during her appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport, but Phogat contended that she had to file the case herself.
