LSU, SMU Set Home-and-Home for 2028-29

LSU and SMU have scheduled a home-and-home football series for Labor Day weekend, with LSU hosting SMU in Baton Rouge on September 2, 2028, and SMU hosting the return game in Dallas on September 1, 2029. Each school will pay the visiting team $750,000 per game, and these matchups will be the first between the two teams since 1934. The series complements LSU's future non-conference games, including Arizona State, Rice, and McNeese State in 2029. Looking ahead to 2025, LSU will open its season at Clemson in a nationally anticipated matchup featuring quarterbacks Garrett Nussmeier for LSU and Cade Klubnik for Clemson. The game is expected to be a top-10 clash broadcast by ABC. Analysts are also projecting Nussmeier as a potential top pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
