Former Teacher Charged with Sexual Assault

Brendan Gallagher, a former teacher at Fossil Ridge High School in Fort Collins, has been arrested on charges of sexual assault of a child following allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a student in 2015. Gallagher, who had informed Poudre School District staff about the relationship, was placed on administrative leave in May 2024. He faces charges including unlawful sexual contact and sexual assault of a child by one in a position of trust. Authorities are investigating further, given Gallagher's previous teaching position in Berthoud, and are concerned there may be additional victims. Gallagher was released after posting a $200,000 bond and is scheduled for a court appearance on January 23.
