A masked man attempted to kidnap a six-year-old boy in broad daylight in Brooklyn's Crown Heights neighborhood, but the child's father intervened, preventing the abduction. The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Stephan Stowe, was arrested the following day and charged with attempted kidnapping, harassment, and endangering the welfare of a child. Surveillance footage shows the suspect lifting the child before the father quickly reacted by pulling his son back and pushing the man away. Stowe, who has a history of criminal activity with over 30 prior arrests, is reported to be a neighbor of the victim's family. The incident has heightened tensions within the community, which has seen an increase in anti-Semitic incidents, although the boy's mother does not believe this was a hate crime. The quick arrest was facilitated by the collaboration between the Crown Heights Shomrim Patrol and the NYPD's 71st precinct.
