Amarillo Man Arrested Stealing $40,000 Sports, Pokémon Cards

On August 15, Daniel Zavala, 38, was arrested for allegedly burglarizing Mike's Sports Cards inside White Lotus Spa in Amarillo, Texas, stealing approximately $40,000 worth of collectible sports and Pokémon cards. Police identified Zavala through surveillance footage and later stopped him driving a vehicle with a stolen license plate linked to a separate burglary at a local car dealership. Search warrants executed on his vehicle and hotel room recovered about $30,000 in stolen property, including most of the stolen cards, additional stolen license plates, and notes detailing plans for future burglaries. Zavala has also been linked to a burglary in Lubbock that occurred in July. The Amarillo Police Department credited the swift and coordinated efforts of its Crime Analysts, Detectives, and Patrol Officers for the quick resolution of the case and recovery of stolen property. This case highlights effective collaboration across multiple police divisions to combat burglary crimes.
