Utah Jazz Breaks Ground on South Town Facility

Smith Entertainment Group owners Ryan and Ashley Smith announced plans to build a Utah Jazz practice facility at The Shops at South Town in Sandy, adjacent to the Utah Mammoth practice facility and SEG corporate offices to form a unified sports campus. The center will include two basketball courts, a team locker room, workout and training spaces and a performance kitchen designed to foster player development and team connectivity. SEG purchased the former mall site in 2024, held a groundbreaking on Oct. 21, 2025, and said construction will begin this fall with the project expected to be completed in less than two years; financial terms were not disclosed. The relocation shifts the Jazz footprint south from the Zions Bank Basketball Campus in Salt Lake City and is intended to promote cross‑collaboration with the Mammoth, expand the teams’ presence across the valley, and attract additional sports and commercial partners. Owner Ryan Smith said the move is part of a long‑term strategy to build championship-caliber programs and create an inspiring, connected environment for players and fans.
