Spike Lee Releases Trailer for Denzel Washington Crime Thriller Highest 2 Lowest

Spike Lee has released the trailer for Highest 2 Lowest, his new crime thriller inspired by Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 film High and Low, set in modern-day New York City. The film stars Denzel Washington as David King, a music mogul caught in a kidnapping and ransom plot, with A$AP Rocky playing the kidnapper "Yung Felon." The cast also includes Jeffrey Wright as King's driver and confidante, Ilfenesh Hadera as his wife, and Ice Spice in an unspecified role. This marks the fifth collaboration between Lee and Washington. Highest 2 Lowest premiered out of competition at Cannes in May to positive reviews and is slated for theatrical release on August 15, followed by streaming on Apple TV+ starting September 5. The film features an all-star crew, including longtime collaborators editor Barry Alexander Brown and composer Howard Drossin.
