Bradenton Man Held in Father's Aggravated Manslaughter
Ian Douglas, 35, was charged with aggravated manslaughter by culpable negligence after accidentally shooting and killing his 76-year-old father, Andrew Douglas, while showing him a handgun at their Bradenton, Florida home shortly before noon. Deputies responded to the scene and found Ian Douglas attempting to render aid after his father suffered a gunshot wound to the neck. Despite emergency medical efforts, Andrew Douglas was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities stated the shooting could have been prevented, citing a lack of safety precautions. The aggravated manslaughter charge, a first-degree felony due to the victim's age, carries a potential sentence of up to 30 years in prison. Ian Douglas remains held without bond as the investigation continues.
