Mehbooba Mufti Rules Out BJP Alliance in J&K

PDP President Mehbooba Mufti firmly ruled out any future alliance with the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that no government could be formed after the upcoming Assembly polls without her party's involvement. She criticized the National Conference (NC) for seeking alliances solely for government formation, accusing them of opportunism and secrecy in their dealings, especially regarding their past coalition with the BJP. Mufti emphasized that while the PDP has a clear agenda focused on implementing its policies, the NC has consistently sacrificed its principles for ministerial positions. Furthermore, she highlighted her party's role in facilitating dialogue with the Hurriyat leaders during her tenure, contrasting it with the NC's actions. As the first assembly polls since the abrogation of Article 370 approach, Mufti reiterated her commitment to resolving the Kashmir issue through constitutional dialogue rather than political power struggles. The elections are set to occur in three phases from September 18 to October 1, with results expected on October 8.
