18 Injured in School Bus Flip on I-77, Traffic Disrupted
A school bus carrying approximately 35 students and two adults from Pine Ridge Middle School in West Columbia, South Carolina, flipped onto its side after a tire blew out on I-77 in Chester County as they were returning from a field trip near Charlotte. The accident, which occurred around 2 p.m. on Thursday, resulted in 18 people being taken to the hospital. Emergency responders, including five medical helicopters, arrived on the scene, and all southbound lanes of I-77 were closed as rescue efforts were underway. The other two buses traveling in the convoy were not involved in the incident.
