Manorville Sanctuary Denies Neglect Charges Amid Investigation

Double D Bar Ranch, an animal sanctuary in Manorville, has been charged with 112 counts of animal neglect for allegedly failing to provide adequate food, water, shelter, and veterinary care to its animals. The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office initiated an investigation following numerous complaints, noting that animals were found in poor conditions, some deceased, and others with untreated medical issues. The ranch's defense attorneys deny the allegations, emphasizing its 28-year history of animal care. The DA's office, however, highlighted severe neglect exacerbated by freezing temperatures. Authorities have removed several animals and barred the ranch from taking in more during the legal proceedings. Humane Long Island is assisting in finding new homes for the rescued animals.
