Bannister, previously jailed for manslaughter in 2012, was sentenced to four months in prison in September 2023 for exhibiting 'fixated, obsessive, unwanted, and repetitive behaviour' towards Cheryl. Despite a three-year restraining order, he violated these terms by returning to her Buckinghamshire home in December 2023, where Cheryl lives with her son, Bear. Bannister attempted to contact her directly and indirectly, leading to subsequent charges.
