Man Arrested for Upskirting at London Beyoncé Concert Amid Police Patrols

A man was arrested for upskirting a woman at a Beyoncé concert held at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on June 5, marking the first of many arrests and removals related to stalking and threatening behavior at large-scale concerts in London this summer. The Metropolitan Police, as part of a wider crackdown on violent offenders and the V100 initiative to tackle violence against women and girls (VAWG), have been collaborating closely with stadium management and event organizers to enhance public safety across 51 concerts at major venues including Wembley, Emirates Stadium, and London Stadium. Over 5,000 officer shifts are dedicated to supporting these events, with specialized patrols trained to detect predatory behavior and intervene promptly to prevent violence. The initiative also includes officers patrolling between venues and major transport hubs, engaging with concertgoers and removing individuals identified as threats, including a registered sex offender at one event. Deputy Assistant Commissioner Ben Russell emphasized that every woman and girl has the right to feel safe while attending concerts and that the Met is committed to changing the current reality where many do not feel safe. Venue representatives highlighted the importance of creating a secure environment for the millions of attendees, most of whom are young women and girls, to enjoy their experience without fear.
