Alexis Von Yates, a Florida nurse, pleaded no contest to a lesser charge of lewd and lascivious battery after being originally charged with sexual battery involving her 15-year-old stepson. The plea deal, supported by the victim's family to spare the teen from testifying and affecting his mental health treatment, includes two years in prison, two years of community control, and ten years of sex offender probation, along with 200 hours of community service and fines. The judge described the sentence as a significant downward departure from typical guidelines. Von Yates was arrested following an incident in July 2024, when her husband reportedly caught her engaging in sexual activity with his son. She lost her nursing license shortly after the arrest due to the severity of the misconduct. Sentencing is scheduled for September 16, when the victim and his biological mother are expected to address the court.
