Ogier Wins Seventh Rally Portugal, Moves Third in WRC

Sebastien Ogier won the Rally de Portugal for a record-extending seventh time, marking Toyota's fifth consecutive victory in the 2025 World Rally Championship season. The eight-time world champion capitalized on a power steering failure suffered by Hyundai's Ott Tanak, who led much of the rally but dropped to second place despite a late comeback attempt. Ogier's victory, achieved with co-driver Vincent Landais, was secured by strong race management and a strategic approach, finishing just 8.7 seconds ahead of Tanak, with Toyota teammate Kalle Rovanperä in third. Elfyn Evans, who led the championship prior to the event, finished sixth, but his points lead was cut to 30 by Rovanperä, while Ogier moved up to third in the standings.
