Hyundai IONIQ 5 Sets Altitude Record
The Hyundai IONIQ 5 has set a new Guinness World Record for the greatest altitude change by an electric car, achieving an elevation difference of 5,802 meters over a journey of more than 4,900 kilometers. The expedition, organized by Hyundai Motor India and conducted by the Evo India team, commenced at Umling La in Leh Ladakh, the highest drivable point in the world, and concluded in Kuttanad, Kerala. Over 14 days, the vehicle navigated through harsh terrains including icy mountain passes and humid coastal areas, showcasing its advanced technology and resilience. This accomplishment underscores Hyundai's commitment to innovation in electric mobility, as expressed by Hyundai Motor India's Managing Director, Mr. Unsoo Kim. The IONIQ 5 is powered by a 72.6 kWh battery, supporting an estimated driving range of over 300 miles. The achievement coincides with the rollout of the upgraded 2025 IONIQ 5, which features improvements in range and design.
