Colin Mackie Charged with Package Thefts in Whitman

Colin Mackie, a 41-year-old Whitman resident, has been arrested and charged in connection with a series of package thefts at an apartment complex on Marble Street, which date back to September. Following numerous reports of thefts, police set up a surveillance operation that included a 'bait' package designed to lure the suspect. On December 18, police observed Mackie stealing three packages, including the bait, and he was subsequently taken into custody. He faces charges of breaking and entering at nighttime with intent to commit a felony and larceny from a building, with additional charges anticipated as the investigation progresses. The police department has encouraged anyone who might have been a victim of these thefts to come forward. This investigation highlighted the diligent work of the Whitman Police, particularly Detective Sgt. Patrick Burtt-Henderson, who led the operation.
