Tucson Man Arrested for Second-Degree Murder of Mother

Michael Andrei Lyons, 49, of Tucson, Arizona, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder after his 74-year-old mother, Sarane Elizabeth Lyons, was found dead in their shared home. Michael Lyons had not been seen for several days but turned himself in on July 31 and admitted to accidentally killing his mother in a sudden flash of rage during an argument, stating he struck her head with his palm causing her to fall and hit concrete. He acknowledged knowing she was dead but stayed in the home with her body for three days before leaving and did not call authorities. Lyons is currently held at Pima County Jail on a $1 million bond, and the investigation remains ongoing with police urging anyone with information to come forward.
