Liverpool Beat Arsenal to Salford's Will Wright
Liverpool have signed 17-year-old striker Will Wright from Salford City, overtaking Arsenal after the Gunners were unable to finalize personal terms with the player. Despite Arsenal offering a higher transfer fee, Liverpool matched the amount and reached agreements with both Salford and Wright. Wright, who scored over 50 goals at youth level and debuted against Manchester City, chose Liverpool for their development pathway and proximity to his home. He will join Liverpool's Under-21 squad, now managed by former Wales boss Rob Page. Salford, co-owned by Gary Neville and David Beckham, will receive around £200,000 for Wright. The move strengthens Liverpool's academy and highlights their advantage in securing emerging talent over major rivals.
