Adrian Pena Arrested in Fatal Shooting Case

Adrian Pena, an 18-year-old from Lynn, Massachusetts, has been arrested in the Dominican Republic in connection with the shooting death of 17-year-old Kai Burgos outside a Market Basket grocery store on June 15. Burgos was found suffering from a gunshot wound inside a crashed vehicle that had rolled into a nearby ravine and was pronounced dead at Salem Hospital. Pena is being charged as a fugitive from justice and will be arraigned in Miami before being extradited back to Massachusetts. Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker expressed gratitude for the efforts of law enforcement in apprehending Pena, emphasizing the commitment to justice for Burgos' family. The investigation involved collaboration between local police, Massachusetts State Police, and the U.S. Marshals Service.
