San Jose Police Officer Arrested Child Sexual Assault Charges

Saul Duran, a 22-year veteran San Jose police officer, was arrested on child sexual assault charges stemming from alleged crimes against two sisters between 2008 and 2012. The abuse reportedly occurred while Duran was a volunteer facilitator in the Santa Clara County parenting program, The Parent Project, where he gained the trust of the family and interacted with the minors outside the program, violating its policies. The victims were 14 and 15 years old at the time, and Duran had been fired from the program previously due to concerning complaints. San Jose Police Chief Paul Joseph emphasized that the department has no tolerance for officers who harm children and has ordered an immediate review of programs involving minors. District Attorney Jeff Rosen announced multiple felony charges, including five counts of lewd acts against a child, and investigators are seeking other potential victims.
