TIFF Awards 'The Road Between Us' People's Choice Documentary

The documentary "The Road Between Us: The Ultimate Rescue," directed by Barry Avrich, won the People's Choice Award for best documentary at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film tells the story of retired Israeli general Noam Tibon's desperate rescue mission to save his family during the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023, which resulted in over 1,200 deaths and 251 abductions. The festival had initially pulled the documentary over security and rights concerns but reinstated it following backlash. Other notable TIFF winners included Chloé Zhao's "Hamnet" for the general People's Choice Award, Guillermo del Toro's "Frankenstein" as first runner-up, and Rian Johnson's "Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery" as second runner-up. "The Road Between Us" is set for a North American theatrical release on October 3, 2025, in major markets including New York, Los Angeles, and Toronto.
