One killed, four injured in multi-vehicle crash on I-805, San Diego

A series of serious traffic accidents occurred recently in San Diego, with two major incidents on Interstate 805. In one early-morning single-vehicle crash in the Mountain View area, a 21-year-old male driver failed to stop at a red light, causing his car to strike a traffic signal cabinet; an 18-year-old female passenger, not wearing a seat belt, suffered a critical brain injury. Another major incident involved a five-vehicle collision on southbound I-805 near Logan Avenue, where a speeding black sedan struck a disabled Toyota Prius on the shoulder, resulting in the death of a woman in the Prius and injuries to four others. The sedan then struck other vehicles, causing further injuries and lane closures for several hours.
