EBRD, EU Launch €377 Million Digitalisation Programme for SMEs in Western Balkans
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is launching initiatives to promote digital transformation among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Türkiye and the Western Balkans. In Türkiye, a €25 million loan to DenizBank will support manufacturing SMEs in enhancing their digital capabilities. Meanwhile, the 'Go Digital in the Western Balkans' programme will provide up to €350 million in financing, combining loans, grants, and technical assistance to boost digitalisation and sustainability in the region's SMEs. This initiative, backed by the European Union, aims to address technology adoption gaps and enhance competitiveness among SMEs, with an emphasis on supporting green technologies and women-led businesses. Additionally, individual financing agreements, such as a €5 million loan to Banka për Biznes in Kosovo, highlight the EBRD's commitment to fostering a robust digital economy in the region. The overall goal is to empower SMEs to innovate and thrive in a rapidly evolving economic landscape.
