Chiefs Superfan Sentenced 32 Years Oklahoma Bank Robberies
Xaviar Babudar, known as the Kansas City Chiefs superfan "ChiefsAholic," was sentenced to 32 years in state prison for an armed bank robbery in Bixby, Oklahoma, which will run concurrently with his existing 17.5-year federal sentence for robbing 11 banks across seven states. Babudar used the stolen funds to finance his lavish lifestyle and Chiefs fandom, often appearing at games dressed in a gray wolf costume and building a significant social media following. Despite expressing remorse and taking responsibility for his crimes, prosecutors and Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler described Babudar as a serial and violent robber who traumatized numerous victims nationwide. Babudar's attorney cited his gambling addiction and troubled background as factors behind his criminal behavior, but the district attorney had sought a life sentence, arguing that Babudar had been given breaks by the justice system. During sentencing, victims from across the country attended to highlight the pattern of violence, with Babudar also having previously fled after cutting off his ankle monitor while out on bond. Babudar's notoriety from his Chiefs persona brought national attention to the case, though the judge ultimately opted for a concurrent sentence rather than life imprisonment.
