Police Chase Ends in Fiery Fairfax County Crash

A late-night police pursuit involving a suspected stolen Hyundai Elantra from Maryland ended in a fiery crash in Fairfax County, Virginia. The chase began when the vehicle refused to stop for Alexandria Police, leading to Virginia State Police involvement. During the pursuit, the Elantra rammed a state trooper's vehicle, causing it to crash into a power pole, which brought down wires. The fleeing vehicle continued and ran a red light before colliding with a Chevy Silverado electric pickup truck and a Toyota Corolla, subsequently catching fire. Several occupants of the Elantra were seriously injured and hospitalized, with one flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital. A stolen firearm was recovered from the vehicle, and the driver of the Silverado sustained minor injuries, while the Corolla's occupants were unharmed.
