Cameron Hanekom has been called up to the Springbok squad for their November tour following the withdrawal of utility back Damian Willemse due to a groin injury sustained during a match against the Glasgow Warriors. This marks Hanekom's first inclusion in the national team after showcasing impressive form with the Bulls and participating in earlier alignment camps. Willemse's injury is particularly disappointing as he had just returned from missing the entire international season due to a previous finger injury. Coach Rassie Erasmus expressed confidence in Hanekom's abilities and noted the squad's depth, now consisting of 20 forwards and 15 backs. The Springboks will head to Jersey for a training camp before facing Scotland on November 10, followed by matches against England and Wales. Erasmus had also made changes earlier this week due to another player, Jan-Hendrik Wessels, being ruled out with an ankle injury.
