92nd Texas Rose Festival Opens with Rose Library Display

The 92nd Texas Rose Festival opened in Tyler with a ribbon-cutting at the Tyler Rose Garden Center featuring “A Tapestry of Tales,” a library-themed display made from hundreds of Tyler-grown roses by Everything Floral/Flowers by Dylan. Tradition-rich events on Thursday included the Thursday Celebration Luncheon at Hollytree Country Club, which drew nearly 300 supporters and reflected the festival’s roots dating to 1933. Saturday’s parade drew hundreds of spectators and just over 100 participating groups—marching bands, dance teams and the Royal Court—whose floats brought fairytales such as The Lorax, Dune, Mother Goose, Wicked and The Rainbow Fish to life. Rose Queen Avery Armstrong (in a yellow glittery gown representing the library) and Princess Mary‑Michael Dial (in a showstopping purple gown) were central to the ceremonies and parade. Festival activities continue through the weekend with the Arts & Crafts Show at Bergfeld Park and ongoing rose displays at the Rose Garden Center.
