Woman Found Dead Near Derry Pond; No Foul Play

Derry police are investigating after landscapers found the body of a woman Monday afternoon at the base of an embankment near a retention pond behind a business at 71 Birch Street; the death was reported around 1:25–1:30 p.m. Surveillance footage from days earlier shows the woman walking alone into the secluded area, appearing ill or impaired, stumbling and falling near the pond, and police say there is no indication of foul play. She is described as a white female about 45–50 years old with dark blond, shoulder‑length hair, wearing a black sweatshirt, a mid‑thigh floral skirt and gray sneakers; no purse, phone or identification was found. Authorities say they have identified the woman but are withholding her name pending next‑of‑kin notification and are asking anyone with information to contact Derry Police at 603‑432‑6111. The discovery comes after another body was found Sunday in Merrimack, which officials say appears to be unrelated, and the investigation in Derry remains ongoing.
