Friday Night Lights Reboot Underway at Peacock

A reboot of the acclaimed 'Friday Night Lights' series is in development at Peacock, an NBCUniversal streaming service. The new adaptation will follow a high school football team and their interim coach as they strive for a Texas High School State Championship after a devastating hurricane. The original series, inspired by H.G. Bissinger's 1990 non-fiction book about the 1988 Permian High School Panthers in Odessa, Texas, aired from 2006 to 2011. Showrunner Jason Katims, director Peter Berg, and producer Brian Grazer, all from the original series, will return for this reboot. The original series received critical acclaim, including an Emmy for outstanding lead actor, Kyle Chandler. The reboot aims to capture the community spirit and resilience seen in the original series, set in the fictional town of Dillon, Texas.
