Two Fatal Crashes Kill One on I-87 Ramapo, One on I-90 Albany

Two fatal crashes occurred on New York State Thruways within a day. On June 15, 2025, Anysah Nelson, a 24-year-old woman from Middletown, died after losing control of her 2016 Honda Civic on southbound I-87 near exit 14A in Ramapo; her vehicle left the road and struck a tree. Troopers responded quickly, and despite life-saving efforts, Nelson was pronounced dead at Montefiore Nyack Hospital. The cause of her crash remains under investigation with no other vehicles involved. On June 16, 2024, a separate crash involving a tractor trailer and an SUV occurred on I-90 Westbound near the I-87 Northway interchange in Albany, resulting in the SUV driver’s death at the scene; the commercial driver cooperated with investigators. The Albany crash investigation is ongoing, with lane closures for collision reconstruction. Authorities have requested any witnesses to come forward for both incidents.
