Two women, Vicki Lyn Stuart and Sally Jane Maxedon, were arrested in Mesa County, Colorado, for allegedly stealing mail-in ballots and submitting forged votes. Stuart, a USPS worker, reportedly used her access as a mail carrier to intercept ballots, which were then fraudulently filled out by Maxedon. The scheme aimed to test the county's signature verification system, though it resulted in charges of identity theft, forgery, and attempting to influence a public servant. Investigations began after voters reported discrepancies with their ballots, leading officials to discover that at least 20 ballots had been compromised. Three of these ballots bypassed the verification process and were counted. The case has highlighted vulnerabilities in mail ballot security, despite assurances from election officials about the reliability of Colorado's mail voting system.
