Hong Kong Selects Twilight of the Warriors for Oscars

Hong Kong has selected 'Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In' as its entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 2025 Academy Awards, as announced by the Federation of Motion Picture Producers of Hong Kong. Directed by Soi Cheang, the film has grossed nearly $100 million globally and was showcased at Cannes as a midnight screening. Adapted from Andy Seto’s comic 'City of Darkness', the film follows Chan Lok-kwun, an illegal migrant, portrayed by Raymond Lam, who navigates the dangers of Kowloon Walled City while evading triad boss Mr. Big, played by Sammo Hung. This is Cheang's first film to be submitted for Oscar consideration, following Hong Kong's last nomination in 2020 with 'Better Days'. The deadline for Oscar submissions is November 14, 2024, with nominations announced on January 17, 2025, and the ceremony scheduled for March 2, 2025.
