RuPaul’s Drag Race Winner Alaska Announces Engagement in Erie

RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 5 finalist and All Stars 2 winner Alaska, whose real name is Justin Honard, announced her engagement to longtime partner Matthew Herrmann following a celebration for her grandmother's 90th birthday in Erie, Pennsylvania. Herrmann, a Los Angeles-based producer and educator, proposed on August 3, and Alaska shared the news with a photo of her hand wearing a silver ring on Instagram. The announcement was met with congratulations from fans and numerous Drag Race alumni, including Denali Foxx, Shea Couleé, Blu Hydrangea, and Rosé. Alaska has a notable history with Drag Race, having first appeared in Season 5 and later winning All Stars 2, and she currently co-hosts the Race Chaser podcast with fellow alum Willam. Before Herrmann, Alaska was in a relationship with Season 4 winner Sharon Needles for several years. Herrmann has been supportive publicly, sharing photos and expressing pride in Alaska's career, including her involvement in Drag: The Musical.
